Do you know your own Carbon Footprint?
NO! Well then, take this test and see the shocking results!
YES. See if you have improved yet?

Energy Efficiency
& Energy Costs Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) Incandescent Light Bulbs Compact Fluorescent (CFLs)
Life Span (average) 40,000 hours 1,000 hours 5,000 hours
Watts of electricity used
(equivalent to 60 watt bulb light output). 8 watts 60 watts 15-17 watts
LED’s use less power (watts) per unit of light generated (lumens). LED’s help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and lower electric bills
Kilo-watts of Electricity used
(30 Incandescent Bulbs per year equivalent) 438 KWh /year 3,285 KWh /year 821 KWh /year
Annual Operating Cost (@ R0.50 / kWh)

Environmental
Impact Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) Incandescent Light Bulbs Compact Fluorescents (CFLs)
Contains the TOXIC Mercury No No Yes - Mercury is very toxic to your health and the environment
Carbon Dioxide Emissions
(30 bulbs per year) 204 kilograms /year 2041 kilograms /year 476 kilograms /year
Lower energy consumption decreases CO2, sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen oxide emissions.
Water Consumption (lost during generation for 30 bulbs per year) 398 litres / year 3942 litres / year 921 litres / year

Important Facts Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) Incandescent Light Bulbs Compact Fluorescent (CFLs)
Sensitivity to low temperatures None Some Yes - may not work under -23o Celsius or above +48o Celsius
RoHS Compliant Yes Yes No - contains 1mg-5mg of Mercury and is a major risk to the environment
Sensitive to humidity No Some Yes
On/Off Cycling
Switching a CFL on/off quickly, in a closet for instance, may decrease the lifespan of the bulb. No Effect Some Yes - can reduce lifespan drastically
Turns on instantly Yes Yes No - takes time to warm up
Durability Very Durable - LEDs can handle jarring and bumping Not Very Durable - glass or filament can break easily Not Very Durable - glass can break easily
Heat Emitted

Energy efficient (LED) lighting technology has come a long way, offering more choices in performance, shape, size, and fixtures. And we are constantly adding to the range of products.
So please talk to us, or better still come and visit and we can show you what we do. Even better ask us to visit you and we will show you how we can assist you in saving electricity.

Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting is a wide field that includes the areas of street lighting, flood lighting, solar powered street and walkway lighting and tunnel lights.
All the C2R products are based on LED (light emitting diode) technology. LED’s used to be those tiny little lights that would “tell” us if an appliance or electrical/electronic device was on or not. But that has changed and LED lights are now part of main stream life. LED’s are also known as Solid State Lighting (SSL).
In the Street lighting section we are extremely impressed by the performance of our SP90 LED lamp. This E40 screw-in base lamp can be retro-fitted to the traditional 80W MV or 70W HPS “cobra-head” fitting that is widely used throughout South Africa. Remove all the traditionally required control gear, fit the E40 screw-in base, connect the electrical source to the E40 base, screw in the SP90, and “viola!”, you have pure white (5000-7000 Kelvin) light. And if you really want, you could also get it in warm white (3000-4000 Kelvin) light.
But that is not what impresses us, it is the fact that while a 70W HPS with control gear probably consumes 80-85W per hour our SP90 consumes only 38W in the same time. Now that is impressive!
But please have a look at the energy efficient outdoor lights and you be the judge.

Road Safety LED’s
The products in this section have been selected not just for their energy efficiency, but also the fact that they would, we believe, have a significant impact on reducing the number of accident that take place annually.

Road accidents are a major cost to the South African economy. Lives are lost and millions of rands is spent each year to clean up and/or repair accident damage.
The Countdown Timers traffic signal can help at all “robot” intersections, at least that “hooligan” trying to make the yellow light will now know that he/she cannot make it. And the people that believe crawling on the Red will make it change faster, can now relax as they will know exactly how long they still have to wait!
The “Cat’sEyes “will help to make those dark unlit roads just that much safer to negotiate. They could even help on the lit rods in bad weather conditions.
